These drawings were done in collaboration with the community of Galesburg Illinois and my family who sent in photos of Black mothers holding pictures of their living sons. The project celebrates Black lives and is a contrast to the image of the mourning mother constantly seen in media as a result of the killings taking place at the hands of police officers.
